Samantha Hartsel

Samantha Hartsel (she/her) is an artist and also the frontwoman of the Massachusetts-based grunge band Tysk Tysk Task. As a survivor of abuse living with PTSD diagnosed later in life, she started the music project to cope with her history and to find empowerment for herself and others. The band has been performing in and around Boston for five years, with a growing fan base moved by the message, especially the band’s 2022 album “You’re Sorry More.”

Message of hope: Recovery is possible, as is happiness and fulfillment. It felt impossible to me for years, especially amid the pandemic. Community has been a saving grace and I hope anyone struggling remembers live music or galleries with healing artists are worth the visit - you can find friendships that will save your life.
