Dakota deal (they/them)

Dakota Deal has struggled with CPTSD for the last decade. Currently in a stage one partial hospitalization program for those suffering the lasting effects of trauma. Dakota uses art to cope with their symptoms. Weaving and writing are both cathartic practices used therapeutically to express the complex experiences and emotional upheaval trauma brings.

Their Message of hope : Asking for help has saved my life a number of times. Please be brave and reach out if you are in a time of need. Or be there for someone when they reach out to you. Community can save lives.

The Knot

Weaving

Dakota explores the depth of domestic abuse. The weaving materials were relics of past traumatic events; transformed into a personification of their pain and suffering.
