Mikki Tullin

Hello, my name is Mikki and I'm an 18-year-old artist from the North East of England. Art has always been a hobby I am passionate about since I was little and I am now on a college course to begin looking into ways to turn this hobby into a career. I work with a few different materials such as acrylic paint, watercolours, coloured pencils, graphite pencils and oil pastels. In recent years, I have started looking for ways to try and build my confidence up in my works, which has given me the opportunity to be part of two art shows and it is the reason I decided to apply for the Survivors Art Project. I am often inspired by my interests, things that are on the more gothic aesthetic side of things, music, and my own experiences and relationships. Such examples being my relationship with my boyfriend or my current interest in clowns. I have found that art has become my outlet for expressing how I feel when I feel that words can’t or if I don’t want to explicitly tell people my problems but still get them off of my chest.

Mikki Tullin 2026 Selected Works

Bottled Up

"Bottled Up" is about my existence and my experience existing as a young woman. It is a self-portrait and in the background Is the comments I’ve had made about me and my body in the background over the years. Despite the experience I’ve had, the piece was made as a way to give me a sense of perseverance even if it's not clear to anyone else. This is because when I look at the piece and see the comments said to/about me, it shows me that I've been able to create something out of it and I can be proud that I haven't let them tear me down in the long run no matter how upset I was in the moment. For the piece I used black card and red paint pen for the background and graphite pencils for the portrait.
