Lauren Whipple received her BFA in Studio Art at East Tennessee State University. Focusing in figurative oil painting, she contemplates the aftermath of personal hardship in her work through self-reflective female figures who explore the different psychological landscapes that manifest from her past, present, and future. In addition to having art displayed around the southern Appalachian area through group exhibitions and public art, she also assists with curating, juroring, and installing exhibitions at regional museums and galleries. She hopes that through her work, viewers who resonate with her paintings are able to see themselves and their individual experiences represented and prompt conversation surrounding these difficult topics. She currently lives and works in Hickory, North Carolina.
